Morgan Evans Finds Joy In ‘Life Upside Down’ EP, Out Now

Morgan EvansLife Upside Down EP is out. The five-track project includes both “On My Own Again,” and the telling “Over For You” along with two new tracks, plus a live version of “Over For You,” from a recent performance in Melbourne, Australia.

It was “Over For You” that Evans released first, in the wake of his split from Kelsea Ballerini. But far from a depressing, tell-all project, Life Upside Down is a, perhaps surprisingly, optimistic look at Evans’ future, this time on his own.

“It’s a collection of songs that could only have come from this time in my life,” Evans shares on Instagram. “After the heaviness of ‘Over For You’ and ‘ On My Own Again,’ the two new tunes coming this Friday, ‘Hey Little Mama’ and ‘All Right Here’ are, quite possibly, the two most joyful sounding records I’ve ever made.

“They’re about finding light in the dark and finding gratitude in the little things, which as we all know are actually the big things!” he adds.

When announcing the new record, Evans said the title came from the tumultuous season in his life, going from his sadness to feeling optimistic about his future.

“I called the EP Life Upside Down because this collection of music could only have come from this time, when my life felt exactly that,” Evans explains. “To me, these five tracks journey through unexpected heartbreak, self-rediscovery, new beginnings and a newfound gratitude for the present moment.”

It was “Over For You” that Evans first released, in the unexpected aftermath of his divorce.

“I sat down in the room, and it was the only song I’d written in two months,” Evans recalled on Apple Music’s Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen. “And I sat in the room and there was a good mate of mine in there, Geoff Warburton… He was in there and two people I’d never met, actually, Madison [Love] and Tim [Sommers]. And I just sat in the corner of the room, I was like, ‘Well, look, I’m going to be useless today unless I just tell you what’s going on.’

“That’s what happened,” he continued. “I had that title; just as a songwriter in general, you’re writing down titles all the time from life. But it just came about as a, ‘Hey, this is what’s going on.’”

Evans is currently on the road with Brett Young, on Young’s 5 Tour 3 2 1 Tour. All of Evans’ music and upcoming shows can be found at  MorganEvansMusic.com.
