Morgan Evans‘ “Over For You,” is officially his new single at radio. The 37-year-old wrote the song while dealing with the end of his marriage to Kelsea Ballerini, a raw and bravely honest look at his grief over their divorce.
“I recorded this vocal on the same day we wrote the song,” Evans shares. “It was a difficult time in my life and writing this helped me process a lot of what I was going through. I’d like to thank everyone that has reached out the last few weeks, both those with messages of support and those sharing their own stories.”
Evans first performed “Over For You” while in his native Australia, sharing his raw emotions with those in attendance. The singer, who wrote “Over For You” with Madison Love, Geoff Warburton and One Love, had no idea that the song would resonate with fans as well as it did.
“I wrote this song three weeks ago and we hit record at our show in Melbourne, Australia last Thursday,” Evans shared on social media. “It was only the second time I ever played it. The videos, comments and messages I’ve received from you all since have been overwhelming. It felt like the right thing to share it like this. Over For You (Live In Melbourne) is out now, everywhere you find music.”
In August, Ballerini revealed that she and Evans had chosen to go their separate ways.
“Friends, I’ve always tried my best to share my life with you in a real and vulnerable way, while also protecting layers of my personal life as they unfold,” Ballerini posted on social media “This is now public record so I wanted you to hear from me directly that I am going through a divorce. This deeply difficult decision is the result of a journey of love, growth, and effort that ultimately has come to an end. It’s hard to find the words here…but I feel extremely grateful for the years of marriage to Morgan and hopeful for the next seasons.
“With very active schedules coming up, please be mindful that we are both fragile, actively healing, and showing up the best we can,” she added.
