Morgan Evans Releases Heart-Wrenching ‘Over For You’ [LISTEN]

When Morgan Evans wrote “Over For You,” he intended it to be for him, as he grieved the end of his marriage to Kelsea Ballerini. But when he played it live in Melbourne, Australia, fans quickly latched on to the song, which is why he is now sharing it with the world.

“I wrote this song three weeks ago and we hit record at our show in Melbourne, Australia last Thursday,” Evans shares on social media. “It was only the second time I ever played it. The videos, comments and messages I’ve received from you all since have been overwhelming. It felt like the right thing to share it like this. Over For You (Live In Melbourne) is out now, everywhere you find music.”

The heartbreaking song says in part, “I would have searched the whole world over for you / Took a flight, through the night / To be that shoulder for you / I would’ve let go if you wanted me too / How many times did you say you loved me / When it wasn’t true / I’m just wondering / How long has it been over for you.”

Evans confirmed his split from Ballerini after she first shared the news, later praising fans for their support.

“Despite the sadness, I feel very grateful, and want to say a huge thank-you to you all for the messages of love and support on here,” he said a few days after the news went public. “I also want to shout out my great friends in California for the self-less care they showed me last week.  This photo is from Saturday. Felt really good to play some music again. Stoked for the shows this weekend!”

Evans recently wrapped up his run with Brad Paisley, while also headlining his own The Country and The Coast Tour. It was a welcome return to live shows for Evans, after spending so much time away from his fans due to the pandemic.

‘It’s just been a really tough time,” Evans previously told Everything Nash. “It’s been two years since I’ve been home. My sister’s had two kids in that time and I haven’t met them yet. Just catching up with my family on FaceTime gets a little bit old. It’s been really tough, and not playing music was really tough too.

“I feel like I can always find the positives in things, but if I’m being honest, it was a really tough year and a half,” he concedes. “And right now it feels like we’re emerging from the darkness with this music and the shows, and that’s really exciting.”
