Rascal Flatts’ Jay DeMarcus Bids Emotional Farewell to Beloved Dog, Priscilla

It’s been a tough weekend for Jay DeMarcus and his family. The Rascal Flatts member, along with his wife, Allison, and children Madeline and Dylan, bid an emotional farewell to their beloved Chihuahua, Priscilla, who passed away.

“Our sweet little Priscilla passed away this week, just days after her 15th birthday,” Jay posted on social media, along with a few touching photos. “We love her so very much and will miss her every day. Thank you for the best 15 years, sweet girl.”

Allison also posted her own memories of Priscilla in a sweet social media post as well.

“Priscilla Elizabeth Alderson DeMarcus,” she wrote. “Sparkling heart She was my first child, fashion icon, true queen, never accepted anyone treating her like an animal, and knew she was loved. We miss you!”

The DeMarcus family is the subject of a new reality TV show, DeMarcus Family Rules, airing on Netflix. The Ohio native hopes that, by appearing on TV, other people will realize that he and his family are just like everyone else.

“Everybody deals with the same family circumstances, the same crazy family members, the same little spats with their spouses,” Jay told Forbes. “Everyone goes through that in life, no matter how famous you are, what you’ve done or what your accomplishments are. That was what was interesting for us — to take a look behind the scenes of what it’s really like once the lights are off and everybody’s off the stage and hunkered down, living with their family every day.”

Rascal Flatts were supposed to be on their farewell Life is a Highway Tour. Although he wishes he could be performing in front of their fans, perhaps for the last time, the 49-year-old is soaking up as much time as possible with his wife and children.

“I was looking forward to doing this tour,” Jay admitted. “I miss being on stage with my brothers. It’s always a wonderful thing to see all the fans and get to connect with them. But it’s also been a blessing that I’ve been able to spend more time with my kids and not miss as many things as I normally would this time of year. It’s been really great for me to sit back and be a father for a little bit and a husband.”
