Shania Twain Calls Hosting the ACM Awards a 'Perfect Fit'

Shania Twain will make her ACM Awards hosting debut on Sunday, May 17. The show, which returns this year to Las Vegas, is, according to Twain, a role that is tailor-made for her.

“I feel like it’s just a perfect fit,” Twain tells SiriusXM’s The Highway. “Las Vegas is my entertainment home. I have been doing residencies there now for a long time. I feel at home there. And so when I say fitting, it’s like I’m hosting people into my Vegas world almost. So I’m going to be welcoming the audience in from all over the place. Las Vegas is already very diverse. People come from all over the world as it is.

“So it’s ideal for bringing worlds together,” she adds, “Bringing genres together, showing the world what and who we are in country music, how amazing we are, and all of the originality that we’re getting better and better at in our genre where we’ve got more of a balance of women.”

Shania Twain Praises the Women in Country Music

Twain is one of country music’s most influential trailblazers, especially as a female artist. She helped pave the path for other women in country music, who are now earning the high praise of Twain.

“They’re excellent,” Twain boasts. “They are bringing diversity with them. Stylistically, they are bringing a great … like Ella Langley is bringing kind of a throwback sound from my childhood that is more country western sounding, and I’ve really missed that in the genre. I’ve missed some of the edginess that country had when I was a kid. And that’s coming back now. So yeah, the world needs to see us at our best, and Las Vegas is the best place to do that.”

Twain will release a new song, “Dirty Rosie,” on Wednesday, May 13. “Dirty Rosie” is part of a brand-new album, her first since Queen of Me came out in 2023, and one that Twain says will be very personal.

“It’s a reflection of my childhood, the environment I grew up in. There’s a lot of descriptive language,” Twain tells People.

Twain was just 29 years old when she released “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?”, a song that became her first No. 1 single. Much has changed, both for Twain and in country music, in the years since then.

“I’m turning 60, and I feel good, and I’ve got to celebrate that,” Twain reflects. “I’m grateful to have made it this far. So I was celebrating that with all of the Queen of Me music. But who makes you who you become, basically. I had never shared that with the fans before. [My fans] only know Shania from my first records. … My first hit wasn’t until I was 30. So there’s a whole lot of Shania they don’t know about, and that’s what the new music’s about.”

The 2026 ACM Awards will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 17, at 8:00 PM ET. The ceremony will air exclusively on Prime Video and Amazon Music.
