Terri Clark‘s new Terri Clark: Live From The Ryman is out! The 17-track album was recorded during her 2024 headlining show at one of Nashville’s most historic venues. Perhaps surprisingly, Clark had no idea when she walked out on stage at The Ryman that her performance would become a live record two years later.
“We did not plan to record this to make an album out of it,” Clark tells People. “We didn’t even have more than two crowd mics.”
Even better, Clark chose not to go back in and fix things that maybe didn’t sound as perfect as it would have sounded had she planned on turning the show into a project.
“We basically had to piece this thing together as best we could,” Clark says. “A lot of people will go in after they record a live record and they’ll re-sing everything. The band will come in and replay parts because they want it to sound perfect. But I didn’t want that. This record is exactly as it went down that night. I chose passion over perfection for this.”

What Trisha Yearwood Says about Terri Clark’s Live Album
Yearwood is one of two guest artists on Live From The Ryman. Yearwood joins Clark on “Poor, Poor Pitiful Me,” while Ashley McBryde sings with Yearwood on “Better Things To Do.” It was Yearwood who suggested Clark chase authenticity over perfection.
“I talked to Trisha about it one night and told them that I was really leaning towards just keeping it really raw and authentic and just the way it was that night,” Clark recalls. “Trisha said, ‘I don’t sound perfect on it either, but it’s live. And that’s the whole purpose. And I think we’re just losing so much of that authenticity these days.’”
What Terri Clark Says About Her 2024 Ryman Show
Two years later, the Canadian still vividly recalls what it felt like to walk out on stage at The Ryman, with an entire audience there to see her.
“I was nervous and excited, but I had no idea what I was walking out to,” Clark recounts. “I’ve played thousands of shows in my career, but that one was the highlight show of my entire life.”
Clark has headlined plenty of shows in her 30-plus year career, but likely none will ever be as special as this show.
“Before I even strummed the first note, the crowd was so loud and it went on for so long,” Clark says. “I was bursting into tears before I even sang the first note. It was so emotional. Fans had traveled from all over the world to be at that show. I just can’t put it into words — it was a very magical night.”
