Todd Tilghman Performs ‘Dig My Grave’ on ‘Huckabee’ [WATCH]

Todd Tilghman just brought his new single to the small screen. The Season 18 winner of The Voice performed “Dig My Grave” on Huckabee, the TBN show led by Mike Huckabee.

Tilghman penned the song with Southbound’s Clint Brown and Sam Nobles, inspired by his own strong Christian faith.

“On the surface, it’s really just a Biblical truth, that this life is not all there is,” Tilghman explained on the Rob Patz Project. “One of these days, we have a promise from the Scripture — it might not be our favorite Bible promise — but we all have a promise that our hearts are going to stop beating and this life will end. But that’s not the end. And so that’s what the song is about. But aside from that, it’s a jam. It really is … It’s really like a rock, swampy song, but it’s a gospel song.”

Since his time on The Voice, the former pastor has been traveling all over the United States, performing both his own concerts and worship music in churches. He also works hard to encourage others to follow their own pasions and callings, whatever they may be.

“What I do now, I don’t want to say it’s not a dream, but I consider it more of a vision than a dream,” the father of eight maintains. “But you keep working toward that. There’s just no way, scripturally or testimonially, in my life, that God’s not going to honor that. He always does.”

Tilghman also performed his autobiographical “Home Wasn’t Built In A Day” song on Huckabee. The song references not only the humble beginning he and his wife, Brooke, had in the early years of their marriage, but also parenting their eight children together.

“I don’t think we intended for it to be my story, but it turned out to be just that at the end of the day,” Tilghman told People of the song. “Every word of that song is true! We really did live in a one-bedroom apartment over [Brooke’s] grandma’s garage.”
