‘The Voice’ Winner Todd Tilghman Drops ‘Dig My Grave’ Anthem [LISTEN]

The Voice winner Todd Tilghman is sharing a powerful message with his new song, “Dig My Grave,” out now.  Tilghman wrote the song with Southbound’s Clint Brown and Sam Nobles,

Tilghman was inspired to write “Dig My Grave” based on his own strong Christian faith, and his firm belief in life after death.

“On the surface, it’s really just a Biblical truth, that this life is not all there is,” Tilghman said on the Rob Patz Project. “One of these days, we have a promise from the Scripture — it might not be our favorite Bible promise — but we all have a promise that our hearts are going to stop beating and this life will end. But that’s not the end. And so that’s what the song is about. But aside from that, it’s a jam. It really is … It’s really like a rock, swampy song, but it’s a gospel song.”

Tilghman recently spoke out about his journey since winning The Voice in 2020, and both the joys and challenges that came from becoming a household name.

“One of the hardest things about this career after winning a major TV show is that people can tend to think there’s a yellow-brick road laid out for you, but that’s not the case,” Tilghman shared on social media. “It’s passion, and closed doors, and excitement, and disappointment, and work. Lots of work. I’m so grateful for the path God put me on, and even more grateful that y’all are part of it.

“The music I release, all the new songs that have come and are coming… they’re very personal,” he added. “From the heart. Independent artists (that’s me) rely so heavily on the people who support their music (that’s you). And I am so very thankful for you.”

Since his time on The Voice, the former pastor has been working full-time on his music, while also encouraging others to follow their dreams, whatever they may be.

“What I do now, I don’t want to say it’s not a dream, but I consider it more of a vision than a dream,” Tilghman acknowledged. “But you keep working toward that. There’s just no way, scripturally or testimonially, in my life, that God’s not going to honor that. He always does.”
