Watch Carrie Underwood Lead Worship At Her Local Church

Carrie Underwood has been outspoken about her strong Christian faith. The mother of two, who led her church in “Goodness of God” last year, has returned to lead worship again, this time singing a brand-new song.

A video posted by Thrive Worship shows Underwood performing a tune called “Pour Your Spirit Out.,” likely at Underwood’s home church, Rolling Hills Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee.

In the clip, Underwood belts out the song, which says, “Just believe that it can happen / There’s a miracle right behind that stone / Roll back that stone / He’s been waiting, can you hear it / He’s been knock knock knocking / Roll back that stone / Roll back that stone / Just like Lazarus out of that grave / Our God re-writes history / Oh Jesus you change everything / When you pour your spirit out.”  Underwood is joined on stage by what appears to be a large group of singers behind her.

What Carrie Underwood Says About Her Spiritual Beliefs

Underwood grew up in church, and has carried her own faith into her own family. In 2021, Underwood released My Savior, a record full of hymns and spiritual songs.

“I feel like the entire time that we were making the album, I felt like I was praying the whole time,” Underwood says on CBS This Morning. “It was all just so hopeful and inspirational and joyful, at such a time when there was so much fear, and having no idea what was around the corner, or what the next month or week would bring. Getting to work on this music was peaceful for me.”

Underwood also launched Savior Sunday Daily, a faith-based station, available on the SiriusXM app, to go along with Savior Sunday Daily, which is part of her Carrie’s Country channel on SiriusXM.

“I feel like people my age and older really did grow up singing hymns,” Underwood explains. “We go to church now, and everything is very praise and worship, which is wonderful, but I feel like there are a lot of people who have not experienced a lot of these hymns, or they’re not a part of their weekly life. So, I hope people that are like me, that grew up with them, can listen to them and feel the heart behind them. We wanted to make them sound fresh, but we didn’t want to change anything too much.

“So, I hope the traditionalists will enjoy it, but I also hope that people who haven’t experienced these songs as much can listen and feel, get that sense of home but enjoy what they’re listening to as well,” she adds.

Underwood can also be found on Sunday nights, singing the theme song for Sunday Night Football. She recently announced she is returning for another season of American Idol, working alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.
