White Limozeen, Inspired by Dolly Parton, Opens in Nashville

White Limozeen is officially open for business! The restaurant, whose name and decor was both inspired by Dolly Parton, is located on the top of Graduate Nashville hotel, located in Midtown.

“We wanted it to feel really approachable and really feasible for everyone to be there, everyone to have a good time, whether you’re drinking a can of Natty Light, or you’re ordering caviar,” Marc Rose, one of the developers told the Tennessean. “And if you order that caviar, we expect you to spill it on your shirt because you’re having such a good time.”

Both the song, “White Limozeen,” and Dolly’s colorful life inspired all of the details in the new venue.

“Even though in the song that young lady reaches success, it doesn’t change who she is,” Marc explained. “You can be glamorous but still be the same you, and I think we tried to carry that through.”

The opulence of White Limozeen, decked out in shades of vibrant pink, was meant to imitate the rags to riches story so many people experience, or at least hope to someday.

“Everyone has a White Limozeen story,” Graduate Hotels President David Rochefort said. “Mine was my senior prom, growing up in Los Angeles, thinking that we were getting in a white limousine and we were on top of the world and we had made it.”

The owners of White Limozeen hoped to open sooner, but were stalled by challenges due to COVID-19.

“It’s very difficult to open a restaurant as is, and to open it during a pandemic and other things that are going on in the world right now and such a call for change in so many different ways, it’s definitely not the easiest thing, and we’re aware of that,” Marc said, adding that they have taken every precaution to keep people safe, including having sanitation stations, regular deep-cleaning, and making sure guests are socially distanced.

The menu, described as a “fusion of French cuisine and ‘homestyle’ foods,” includes an eclectic list of  cocktail, food and dessert options, including French Onion Tortellini, Chicken Liver Pie, White Bread Burger, and Smoked Trout Fritters. See the complete menu by visiting the restaurant’s website.

“White Limozeen” was the title track of Dolly’s 1989 album. The restaurant is currently open at 50 percent capacity, due to COVID-19 restrictions. Reservations are strongly encouraged.
