2023 ACM Awards: Brothers Osborne Wins Duo of the Year

Brothers Osborne are continuing their reign as Duo of the Year! Siblings John and TJ Osborne both were at the live ceremony to accept the trophy.

“I’m gonna keep this short because I’m really hot, and I’m really nervous, and I’m trying to suck my belly in,” TJ said from stage. “I just want to say thank you to everyone. Thank you to the fans. We love you!”

“Same. Exactly the same. My wife Lucie couldn’t be here tonight. We just had twins like seven weeks ago. So Lucy, Arthur, Mabel. I love you so much. And just as much I love the country music community. We’re the luckiest people in the world. Thank you so much!”

Brothers Osborne also won the ACM Award for Duo of the Year in 2022.

“Some people in radio have been really great to us. Not entirely, and that’s okay,” John said at the time. “We kind of keep pushing and trying to persevere. What has kept us going for the past eight years are these [awards]. It has kept wind in our sails, not only what it does in terms of the fanbase and the notoriety, but what it does for us as people who keep fighting what we feel like is an uphill battle even when we do win … It’s a lot bigger than I think people know. These things really do keep you going.”

In March, John announced that his wife, singer-songwriter Lucie Silvas, had given birth to twins.

Last fall, the couple announced that they were expecting, using in vitro fertilization (IVF) to conceive.

“It is such an amazing thing to be in this position to be growing two babies,” Silvas told People at the time. “When you think that you may never have the chance to have children and then suddenly you’re going to have two, it’s amazing.”

Even before she had given birth, John predicted that she would excel in her role as a mother as well.

“I already know Lucie’s going to be an amazing mom, because she has had to be a mom to me a couple of times, when I’m being ridiculous or I’ve had a few too many drinks. She’s actually inherently a very maternal person,” Osborne said

“I would think any of our friends would say that — when they need love and affection and a genuinely nonjudgmental person and ear to talk to, they go to Lucie, because she has a very motherly instinct already without having had kids. It’s very natural,” he continued. “I have no doubt in my mind that she is going to transition into motherhood as good, if not better, than anyone. … Lucie is going to absolutely crush it as a mom — I would bet everything I have on that.”

Brothers Osborne also won the 2022 CMA Award for Vocal Duo of the Year as well.
