Amy Grant Gives Health Update Following Heart Surgery

Amy Grant is giving an update following her heart surgery last week. The gospel singer had surgery to perform a congenital heart defect that she only became aware of earlier this year. Her team revealed she is recovering well at home, and that doctors are pleased with her progress.

“Thank you for all the prayers and kind messages of love and encouragement for Amy this week,” a statement reads on her Facebook page. “We are grateful to report that Amy is now out of the hospital ahead of schedule and continuing her recuperation/healing at home. Your continued prayers are much appreciated!”

Amy announced in February that she had to have surgery, after a routine physical revealed she had a heart condition since birth that needed to be repaired.

“Since February is heart health awareness month, I want to send a shout out to my doctor, John Bright Cage. He suggested I have a check up because of my Dad’s heart history,” Amy announced on social media earlier this year. “As always, I am feeling great, but the battery of tests he put me through show that I have had a heart condition since birth.

“The first good news is that I am completely asymptomatic,” she continued. “The second good news is that it’s fixable, so instead of concerts and camping trips this summer, I am going to take care of my heart.”

Amy and her husband, Vince Gill, celebrated 20 years of marriage in March. Her next scheduled event on her calendar is her annual Tennessee Weekend with Amy Grant. The event is sold out. Keep track of updates by visiting her website.
