Amy Grant Releases Pensive ‘Trees We’ll Never See’ [LISTEN]

New music is here from Amy Grant. The singer-songwriter just released the pensive new track, “Trees We’ll Never See.” The song, her first release in ten years, comes on the heels of Grant’s recovery from injuries sustained in a  bike accident last year,

“‘Trees We’ll Never See’ is one of those life-lesson, encouraging songs that remind us that we are not alone, we have a purpose, and the seeds we plant today are so important,” Grant shares on social media. “Even if we ‘never see’ the fruit or the trees that grow from those seeds in our lifetime, it’s always important to invest in people, friends, family, and those we may never even meet.”

Grant never intended to wait a decade before putting out more music, after the release of How Mercy Looks From Here in 2013. Fortunately, it was an invitation from Christian singer Cory Asbury, to sing with him on a new song, which became the impetus for Grant to want to release more music on her own.

“So much creativity has been put on hold in my life, for all kinds of reasons,” the 62-year-old explained on the Today Show. “Last summer I was asked to sing on a new Cory Asbury song yet to be released. This might be one of the best songs I have heard in a long time. I was so glad they waited for me to heal up and get back to the studio. Inspired by Cory’s beautiful song, Marshall Altman and I started talking about songs that we’ve written recently that affected us.

“I played him one of mine,” she recalled. “He played me one of his. His song was ‘Trees We’ll Never See.’ I loved it immediately and asked him if I could record it, and within two weeks, both songs were mixed and mastered!”

Grant suffered serious injuries after falling off her bike last year, which caused her to lose consciousness for several minutes. While she is back on the road, Grant — who also had heart surgery in 2020 — still deals with some lingering memory loss, but is happy with the progress she has made.

“I feel fantastic,” Grant says. “I mean, really from 2020 on, I feel like I had to, if I were a car, I’ve made a lotta trips to the shop. And I feel like I’m emerging. I went, ‘Oh man, I feel like a classic now.’ And actually sort of re-revved up in a really beautiful way.”
