Anna Rose Releases Poignant ‘Already Gone’ [LISTEN]

A powerful and poignant new song from Anna Rose has just been released. “Already Gone,” inspired by her own struggles amid the coronavirus pandemic, is out now.

“I wrote “Already Gone” in Brooklyn on March 13, 2020,” Anna Rose tells Everything Nash. “My personal life had fallen apart and New York City had just been put on lockdown. All my tour dates promoting my new record were canceled. I couldn’t tour, so I couldn’t run anymore. I was alone.”

Anna Rose captured the moment she wrote “Already Gone,” unaware at the time that her moment of vulnerability would become the catalyst for a new single, three years later.

“I remember the date because I took a video of myself as I finished writing it, desperately trying to sing while clutching my Gretsch and crying,” Anna Rose recalls. “I’m not sure why I filmed that moment, I think I wanted to document the first step forward out of one of the darkest times of my life.”

The daughter of Disney composer, Alan Menken, Anna Rose has a long history of relying on music to bring healing and hope to whatever situation she finds herself in.

“Music has always been that thing for me; the one thing that pulls me out of the depths,” Anna Rose acknowledges. “The tiny spark. I hope this song can be that little bit of light for someone else. I hope someone listens and feels a little less alone.”

Anna Rose will release her fourth studio album, Last Girl of the Rodeo, later this year. A proven songwriter, who has not only released music on her own, but had songs in hit TV shows like NBC‘s This Is Us, Anna Rose is rightfully proud of how honest and transparent she was in “Already Gone.”

“I don’t think I could have written this song with another person in the room,” Anna Rose says in a press release..”It required a level of painful honesty that you can only sing about and not speak about. This is a song that, in a way, unconsciously wrote itself.”
