Anne Wilson Releases ‘My Jesus (Anniversary Deluxe)’ Album

New music is here from Anne Wilson, and a lot of it. The 21-year-old is celebrating the release of her debut My Jesus album, out on April 22, 2022, with My Jesus (Anniversary Deluxe), a total of 26 songs, including two brand-new tracks, plus a live version of “My Jesus (Live From Kentucky),” recorded at her hometown show at Rupp Arena, along with a never-before-seen performance video.

Wilson first announced the news on social media, ahead of the release of My Jesus (Anniversary Deluxe).

“The past year of my life has been more life-giving than anything I could’ve ever dreamed,” Wilson wrote. “I released a record that has been such a gift to my life. These songs were picked out of 130 and really spoke to the season of loss I went through when I lost my big brother Jacob in 2017. God has used this record in the most incredible way. So to celebrate the one-year anniversary of my album, My Jesus, I am releasing “My Jesus (Anniversary Deluxe)” on April 21!!!!

“This album includes the never before heard song, ‘Still God,’ and ‘My Jesus’ live from my home state of Kentucky,” she added. “I cannot wait to release this to y’all!!! Thank you for being on this journey with me and making it just so so sweet. This is for you Jacob.”

If not for the loss of her beloved brother, Jacob, in a car accident, Wilson may have never pursued a career in music.

“I wanted to work for NASA,” Wilson told Everything Nash. “I wanted to go down that path. Since I was really, really little — my mom said when I was three and four years old — I would always be looking up at space and just admiring the beauty. I would ask to stay up late so that I could look at the stars. I was just always very big into NASA and space, and math and science came naturally to me. That’s what I wanted to do, and it seemed like that was what the path was going to be the path for me. And then my brother passed away in 2017, and that’s when everything shifted for me.”

Shifted indeed. Wilson sat at the piano in her family home right after she found out about Jacob, and began singing. Her mother heard her and asked her to sing at her brother’s funeral, unexpectedly kicking off a new career path for Wilson in the process.

“I played piano my whole life, but I was 15 years old and I had never sung in front of anyone,” Wilson recounted. “I was downstairs just worshiping the Lord in the middle of the day, probably four or five days after Jacob had passed away. We were planning the funeral and my mom came in the room. She overheard me singing, and then she asked me if I would be willing to sing at the funeral. So the singing at the funeral led to then posting a video of that song, which that video went viral. That’s how I met my manager. And that’s basically how I got into the national scene, all because of that one moment at the funeral.”
