Carrie Underwood Announces ‘Hate My Heart’ As Her Next Single [LISTEN]

After earning a Top 10 hit with “Ghost Story,” her debut single from Denim & Rhinestones, Carrie Underwood is back with a new single. The 39-year-old released “Hate My Heart,” written by Underwood, along with David Garcia, Hillary Lindsey and HARDY.

“‘Hate My Heart’ was definitely part of my desire to have fun on this album,” Underwood says of the uptempo track. “I wanted songs that would be exciting to perform live and would fill up an arena, and that’s exactly what we’re about to do with The Denim & Rhinestones Tour. This one is definitely going to get everyone up on their feet and having a good time. It was great writing ‘Hate My Heart’ with Hillary Lindsey and David Garcia, who I love collaborating with, and also getting to work with Hardy, who brought a cool vibe and an energy to the track.”

Underwood is only a few days away from being able to perform “Hate My Heart” live, when her The Denim & Rhinestones Tour kicks off on October 15, and no one is more eager than the American Idol alum to hit the road.

“There’s a lot of things we’re doing that we haven’t done before,” Underwood teased on Audacy’s Katie & Company. “I feel like we’re in such a good creative space… I feel like everybody has really just upped their game. We’ve been rehearsing lately and kind of adding new flavors to songs we’ve been playing for a really long time. Just kind of keeping things fresh and exciting.”

Underwood will be joined by Jimmie Allen for The Denim & Rhinestones Tour, her first since her massive Cry Pretty Tour in 2019.

“I think for me being able to play live and go on tour and be on stage, every night it’s so much fun,” Underwood shared with her record label. “That two hours I’m on stage … I get to play a character, I get to go into this other world and everybody’s having a good time and I’m having a good time. I mean I feel like I was just born to sing, so that’s my favorite part of the day is when I get to sing.”

Underwood will return to Nashville for the 2022 CMA Awards, where she is  nominated for three trophies, including the night’s highest honor, Entertainer of the Year.

“Obviously [I’m] super excited. I knew that the nominations were coming out the next morning, but by the time the next morning got there I totally forgot and was going about my day,” Underwood recalled. “Then I looked at my phone and I had text messages and I was like, ‘Oh! Nice!’ It was kind of nice to not be anticipating [because] then I would have been nervous.”
