Cole Swindell on Not Touring Because of COVID-19: ‘I Never Dreamed This Would Be Taken Away’

For someone like Cole Swindell, who has spent most of the last several years on the road, being forced to stay home because of COVID-19 is especially challenging. The 37-year-old admits he misses performing, and especially the time with his fans.

“I miss the connection with the fans and seeing the joy or the tears,” Cole told CMT‘s Cody Alan. “I miss seeing them and talking to them at the meet and greets. Just like athletes, I miss the locker room. I miss the guys. I miss the band. I miss the silliness.”

“I never dreamed that this would be taken away,” he continued. “I don’t think anybody did, and there will be some good things that come out of this year. I never thought I could love it more, but I can’t. Everybody is ready to get back. I think we will all appreciate it more when we all get back to our routine.”

Cole admits it is hard to cheer himself up, when the cure for almost anything used to be his time on stage.

“I don’t have a lot of bad days,” Cole acknowledged. “I am very fortunate, but sometimes you just do, and every time no matter what kind of day it’s been or what I am going through, when I get to step on that stage, that feeling is all gone.”

Cole also had to film the video for his current single, “Single Saturday Night,” in a different way, due to COVID-19.

“We didn’t know what we were going to do,” Cole previously told Everything Nash and other outlets. “We just knew that we wanted to put the song out, and we had to have a video. With the times we’re in, I was like, ‘Man, it’s going to have to be somewhat of a Zoom-looking video,’ and then just came in with an idea of just me and the band guys.

“We got us all together, not in one place, but we all went by at separate times,” he continued. “It looked like a schedule all day long, who was here when and all that. So the whole band came by; we’re in front of a green screen and doing all that. Then I came last and did all my parts. It was awkward.”

No word yet when Cole will be able to head out on his Here on Earth Tour. Keep track of updates at ColeSwindell.com.
