Craig Morgan Finds New Fans With the Deluxe Edition of ‘God, Family, Country’ [EXCLUSIVE]

Craig Morgan just released his the deluxe edition of his God, Family, Country album, featuring some of his previous hits, as well as four previously unreleased songs. The 58-year-old is now grateful that he released his latest record, even moreso since he was against the idea in the beginning.

“We remastered some of the older stuff. It’s weird; I didn’t want to do this at first,” Morgan admits to Everything Nash. “I’m gonna be honest, and I don’t know if I should say this or not, but the record label convinced me to do this, and management. Like ‘That’s What I Love About Sundays.’ I look now, and I’ll say it was very, very smart on their part, because I have a new fanbase, with people that are just hearing ‘That’s What I Love About Sundays’  and ‘Redneck Yacht Club’ for the first time. And I know this ’cause when I do it in a show, and I look out there, there’s a 15-year-old singing every word almost. That song’s older than they are.”

Although he was hesitant to release songs like “That’s What I Love About Sunday,” “Almost Home” and more, he now appreciates that he not only got to share those songs again, but some of his newer songs, including his current single, “How You Make a Man.”

“I’ll give those label credit for having thought of that, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be able to put new music out, because I think I am singing better than I ever have, and I feel like I am writing stronger material than I’ve ever written,” Morgan admits. “‘Sounds Like Home,’ you can see every line. I literally can see a buckshot stop sign. I know which sign it is, and where it’s at. Dust from combines, the images in these are so vivid that it’s almost color. I love that. I love that we’ve done that. That’s difficult as an entertainer, as an artist that’s been doing it for 20 years.

“It’s hard to continue to produce a product that your fanbase from 20 years to ten years ago, expects from you while at the same time trying to be creative enough to be relevant in this ever-changing format,” he adds. “And I think we’ve done it on this project better than anything we’ve ever done.”

Morgan just released his God, Family, Country memoir, and says there are plenty of new ventures in the works for him in 2023.

“I’m gonna continue to be writing, working as always on the next project,” Morgan shares. “I just wanna be relevant. I’m just really trying to be relevant … I’m doing some movies. I just finished one called Savage Lands that will come out the first or second quarter. I’m continuing that. I just want to stay busy. I want to stay relevant and active. And when I’m no longer relevant in the business. I will still be active and busy. I just might not be doing that.”
