Dolly Parton Announces Release of Greatest Hits Collection

Dolly Parton is celebrating her lengthy career with a new collection of some of her biggest hits. The 76-year-old announces the release of Dolly Parton – Diamonds & Rhinestones: The Greatest Hits Collection, with 23 of her biggest songs, including “9 to 5,” “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You” and more.

“Every one of these songs has a special memory behind it for me. I hope that you make some special memories of your own while listening to them. Enjoy the Diamonds & Rhinestones album. – Musically yours, Dolly”

Kenny Rogers appears on two songs on Diamonds & Rhinestones, both on “Islands In The Stream” and “Real Love.” Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette join Parton on “Silver Threads and Golden Needles.”

The Country Music Hall of Fame member will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this fall, along with Lionel Richie, Pat Benatar, Duran Duran, Eurythmics, Carly Simon and Eminem. Parton initially said she wanted to withdraw her name from the list of potential nominees, a request the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame refused.

“I’ll accept gracefully,” Parton told NPR. “I would just say thanks and I’ll accept it because the fans vote. But when I said that, it was always my belief that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was for the people in rock music, and I have found out lately that it’s not necessarily that. But if they can’t go there to be recognized, where do they go? So I just felt like I would be taking away from someone that maybe deserved it, certainly more than me, because I never considered myself a rock artist. But obviously, there’s more to it than that.”

The collection of songs, spanning from 1971 to 2020, includes liner notes by Robert K. Oermann, who collaborated with Dolly on her 2020 autobiography, Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics. Diamonds & Rhinestones will be released on November 18, and will be available in digital, CD and vinyl. Pre-order can be found here.
