Dolly Parton Performs ‘Jolene’ and ‘I Will Always Love You’ With Miley Cyrus [WATCH]

Dolly Parton joined Miley Cyrus as part of the televised Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, airing on NBC. The two singers collaborated on a few of their biggest hits, including Parton’s iconic “I Will Always Love You” and “Jolene,” with Parton also serving as a co-host of the event.

“I tell you, this is a thrill of my life to get to host the show with Miley,” Parton said from stage of her goddaughter (via Today). “We know how much I’ve loved her since she was a little ol’ bitty thing. Now she’s a big ol’ thing and I still love her. I will always love you.”

Cyrus echoed Parton’s sentiments, praising Parton for joining her for the televised TV special, which aired from Miami, Florida.

“That’s how I feel about you, Aunt Dolly,” Cyrus said. “To stand on this stage and bring in 2023 with my godmother and all of you here in Miami, it has been a privilege and a pleasure and we have just loved the time that we have gotten to spend together and you all brought us together closer than we’ve ever been before, so we’re grateful for that.”

Parton also joined Cyrus on her multi-platinum 2013 hit, “Wrecking Ball,” Patsy Cline’s “Walkin’ After Midnight,” and the Joan Jett hit, “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll.” The latter is especially appropriate since Parton has said she is working on a rock and roll album, after her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year.

“When I got nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I thought ‘Well, no better time to do it,’” Parton tells Pollstar. “I had always wanted to do it. My husband is a big hard rock ’n’ roll fan, and for years I thought, ‘One of these days I’d like to do an album mainly just for him, just to kind of do it.’ When I got nominated, I thought, ‘Why not just go ahead and do it while the iron’s hot?’ Maybe [I’ll] have some of the greats, the legends of rock ‘n’ roll sing along with me.”

Parton was one of several guests on Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party. Other celebrities appearing included Sia, David Byrne, Fletcher, as well as Saturday Night Live cast members Chloe Fineman, Sarah Sherman, and the Please Don’t Destroy comedy trio.
