Old Dominion To Release New Single, ‘Memory Lane’ [LISTEN]

New music is coming from Old Dominion. The reigning CMA Vocal Group of the Year announces that “Memory Lane,” written by band members Matt Ramsey, Trevor Rosen and Brad Tursi, along with Jessie Jo Dillon, will be released on Thursday, January 5.

“Sometimes, when I’m feeling overwhelmed, or missing someone, or maybe just feel a little nostalgic, there are places in my mind I can go that are full of memories of simpler times,” Ramsey explains. “It’s a location, or a person, or a feeling that will always live in my memories and I can close my eyes and transport myself there anytime I want and experience it all again. I think we all have that time in our life that will remain forever perfect in our hearts. Sometimes we wish we could just stay there and never leave.”

“Memory Lane” follows Old Dominion’s Top 20 “No Hard Feelings,” the second single from their 2021 Time, Tequila & Therapy album. Although “Memory Lane” isn’t on their latest record, the song quickly earned rave reviews from fans, after Old Dominion teased the song on TikTok.

Old Dominion is also at radio with Kenny Chesney, and their “Beer With My Friends” collaboration. The song was released at the end of Chesney’s Here and Now Tour, which featured Old Dominion as one of the opening acts.

“There’s nothing like hitting that local bar with your friends,” Chesney said on social media of the reason for releasing the song. “That’s what this whole Here and Now Tour has felt like. It’s so much more than a show or a concert. It’s really letting go and I wanted to capture that in ‘Beer With My Friends.’”

Old Dominion has had plenty of success and accolades, none of which would have happened — at least according to them — without Alabama paving the way for groups in country music. Ramsey honored Alabama, following the loss of Jeff Cook, both during their Vocal Group of the Year acceptance speech at the CMA Awards, as well as backstage after their win.

“Alabama is a big part of all of our childhood, that just really is in the fabric of country music,” Ramsey said. “Everyone who is an artist out there right now, I don’t think there’s anyone that will argue with that statement. They just absolutely broke total new ground. And we are lucky enough to even share some of the team members that sort of built their career, and are now working with us. They’ve been a complete influence in a lot of ways for us.

“When you’re a band in this genre, you can’t help but look to them for examples of the right way to do things,” he continued. “They’re just a massive, massive band that really shaped country music, and changed the direction. We wouldn’t be here without them.”

Old Dominion will embark on their No Bad Vibes Tour on January 19 in Evansville, Indiana. Pre-order “Memory Lane” here. Find music and tour dates at WeAreOldDominion.com.
