Everything to Know About Christmas at Gaylord Opryland Resort

Nashville’s Gaylord Opryland Resort has for years been known as one of the premier destinations to view Christmas lights, holiday displays and more, and this year is no exception. Even amid a global health crisis, the resort is still determined to make the year as festive as possible. Read on to find out more about what the Opryland Hotel is doing to help celebrate the holidays this year.

1. Christmas Lights

More than three million lights are used to light up the hotel and outdoor grounds. From Christmas lights covering almost every part of the indoor hotel, to spectacular displays outside, Gaylord Opryland Resort is a pure winter wonderland. Bonus: it’s free to walk through the hotel and outdoor grounds!

2. A Country Christmas

The Oak Ridge Boys are performing for this year’s A Country Christmas event, as part of a 29-night residency, which kicks off on November 20 and runs through Christmas night. Their Christmas in Tennessee dinner show includes an elaborate meal, along with a concert of the Oak Ridge Boys, singing Christmas classics, as well as some of their own tunes.

3. I Love Christmas Movies

New this year is I Love Christmas Movies, an immersive pop-up experience, allowing guests to walk through a display of 13 of the season’s most beloved Christmas movies, including Polar Express, Elf, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and more.

4. Ice Tubing

Bundle up for this fun event. With a 15-foot high, four-lane ice tubing hill, one ticket price allows unlimited rides.

5. Ice Bumper Cars

Much like ice tubing, this event will also require extra layers of clothing. Zoom around on ice bumper cars, bumping into friends, family and strangers for this unique event.

6. Delta Riverboat Christmas Cruise

The Delta Riverboat Christmas Cruise runs right through the Opryland Hotel. Ride on the quarter-mile long ride, checking out the indoor Christmas display from a boat decked out for the season.

7. Reindeer Encounters

Get up close and personal with Santa’s favorite mode of transportation. In addition to viewing the animals, learn more about this unique species.

8. Carriage Rides

What says Christmas more than a carriage ride? Enjoy your own private horse-drawn carriage ride, viewing the outdoor display on this 12-minute ride.

9. Breakfast With Charlie Brown and Friends

This fun for all ages event includes a delicious breakfast, along with photos from some of the Peanuts’ characters.

10. Merry Snoopy’s Scavenger Hunt

Go from breakfast with Charlie Brown to a scavenger hunt with Snoopy. Help Snoopy find what he needs for the Dog House Decorating Competition. Complete the scavenger hunt to win a souvenir.

11. Gingerbread Decorating Corner

Choose between decorating a cookie or an entire gingerbread house, and get a picture with Nutmeg, the Gingerbread Man, after your work of art is completed.

12. Letters to Santa

Did you know that the Opryland Hotel has Santa’s official office inside? It’s true! Step inside his office and write a letter telling Santa how good you have been — or maybe how much better you promise to be next year.

13. Visit Santa Claus

No Christmas experience is complete without a visit to Santa Claus himself. Visit Santa, socially-distanced of course, and tell him everything you want, and get a photo as well.
