Gabby Barrett is opening up about having another girl. The American Idol alum, who announced her third pregnancy in August, reveals she and her husband, Cade Foehner, are eager to welcome their second daughter. due in February.
“My first was a girl, second was a boy, third will be a girl again,” Barrett tells People. “So love girls, love raising my first one. Lots of personalities in the house.”
Barrett and Foehner are already the proud parents to two-and-a-half-year-old Baylah May, and son Augustine, who will turn one later this month.
“My first understands that there’s a baby and what’s in mom’s belly,” Barrett says. “And she always feels my belly and lays on it, and kisses it, which is very sweet … She understands it all and is very excited for her sister.”
Adding to her family isn’t slowing down Barrett’s music career at all. The 23-year-old is currently enjoying a Top 30 single with “Glory Days,” from her forthcoming sophomore album. It’s a lot to balance, but Barrett is up for the challenge, even if she might be tired.
“The biggest challenge of being a mom is loss of sleep,” Barrett acknowledges. “I think any parent will say that. And then when you add another child to the mix, you have to rebalance and reorganize and get everybody’s schedules down. So it’s just a matter of being prepared to lose that sleep at first, but you regain it back, so it’s good.”
Still, there is one big reward for Barrett, which she insists makes all of it, even the sleeplessness, worth it in the end.
“[It’s] getting to see something that you created walk around and flourish into the person that they’re becoming. It’s very cool,” she adds.
The Pennsylvania native already revealed that her new album has a song written by Luke Combs on the project, and one she wrote and sings with Miranda Lambert, but there might be even more duets on the record.
“There are lots of collabs,” Barrett tells Apple Music Country’s Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen. “Luke Combs wrote one of the songs on the album and I fell in love with it. And then I did another song with Miranda Lambert that’ll be involved on the album. And you never know, there could be something else that pops up before we get to early fall. So there’s just a lot to look forward to.”
Barrett has yet to announce a release date, but hints it could be in the very near future.
“Second album, hopefully the goal for that is to release it in the early fall,” Barrett hints. “And I think this album is just next level in a way… I think it has a more just continual vein to it. It’s not kind of all over the place. I have to be very vulnerable about some of the subjects that are talked about. It’s very close to my heart in a different way than the first album was, for sure.”
