Jelly Roll Announces New Album, ‘Whitsitt Chapel’

New music is coming from Jelly Roll. After teasing a new project last year, the Nashville native announces the release of Whitsitt Chapel, out on June 2. The 13-track record will include his current single, “Need A Favor,” which comes on the heels of his record-breaking, No. 1 hit, “Son Of A Sinner.”

“This album is about growth and gratitude happening in my life,” Jelly Roll says. “I wanted to create a project that felt hopeful. I believe the worst feeling a person can have is feeling hopeless or worthless. This is therapeutic music. Real music for real people with real problems,”

Jelly Roll also announced the news on social media.

Jelly Roll previously announced he was working on a new project, one that would permanently solidify his place in country music.

“I’m working on my album right now,” Jelly Roll told Audacy’s Rob + Holly. “I didn’t want to come back to country radio with another sad, slow song. So I came back with a sad, mid-tempo song. … I’m here for the long haul. [In] 2022 I climbed the mountain of country music. 2023, I’m gonna plant the flag to show y’all I’m here… Let me claim a little space.”

Not only is Jelly Roll working on new music, but he’s also working on his health. The former drug addict is committed to losing weight and getting healthy this year, vowing to be the best version of himself he can possibly be.

“I’m going to spend the first couple months of the year just focusing on family and health,” Jelly Roll told Music Mayhem. “I lost some weight this year in 2022, but in 2023 I wanna finally conquer the demon. I don’t leave for a big tour until about the middle of the year. So I plan on taking the first half of the year to tighten the album up and get some work in.”

Last month, Jelly Roll also tweeted about his progress, and the steps he was taking to take charge of his own health.

Jelly Roll will embark on his Backroad Baptism Tour in July, joined by a rotating list of opening acts, including Ashley McBrydeChase RiceStruggle Jennings, Caitlynne Curtis, Elle King, Merkules, Three 6 Mafia, Yelawolf and Josh Adam Meyers.

The 38-year-old is also celebrating his first-ever CMT Music Awards nominations. Jelly Roll received three nods, for Male Video and Breakthrough Male Video of the Year, as well as CMT Performance of the Year (as part of CMT All Access), all for “Son Of A Sinner.”
