A new song is coming from Kenny Chesney, ahead of the release of Silver Sands Marina. The Country Music Hall of Fame member will release “Burn My Boat” on Friday, July 31. The song was written by Casey Beathard, Tucker Beathard and Ryan Tyndall,
“Burn My Boat” says in part, “So take this heart and light it / Send it in smoke / I think I’ve found my island / Burn my boat.”
“Whatever’s one’s truest passion is, when you find it, everything else falls into place and makes sense,” Chesney says of the sweet song.
Ahead of the song’s release, Chesney shares why he was so drawn to “Burn My Boat,” and why he includes it on Silver Sands Marina, and makes it the first track on the record.
“This was always the first song,” Chesney says. “No matter how many sequences, adding those three songs, ‘Burn My Boat’ was the exact thing I wanted to say. And it’s in the chorus, recognizing ‘where I’m supposed to be’ is that sense of true arrival, knowing where you’re supposed to be. When you’re restless, and I am, there is no greater peace or freedom.
“Even more, ‘Burn My Boat’ wasn’t a song of surrender, but arrival,” he adds. “It builds and builds, like Lord Huron’s ‘Ends of the Earth,’ but what it delivers is what I think most of us are hoping to find. That line: ‘Take this heart and light it / Send it up in smoke,’ it really is burning off all the things that distract us from what matters in this faster, harder, more world we deal with.”

What Kenny Chesney Says About the Title Track of ‘Silver Sands Marina’
Silver Sands Marina is Chesney’s first new album since BORN was released in 2024. As soon as he heard “Silver Sands Marina,” Chesney knew he wanted to make it the record’s title track.
“When the guitars come in, along with the voices, you can sense the way the connection has built, even though it’s only for those 24 hours,” Chesney explains. “When the arrangement falls away, how much that moment got inside becomes concrete. This wasn’t hooking up; it wasn’t two strangers not looking back. These are people who connected on a soul level – and no matter how much time passes, this moment will always be vivid and alive.
“That’s the great thing about songs: they hold life like nothing else,” he continues. “As I was listening to the songs on this record, I realized ‘Silver Sands Marina’ defines the album. Beyond the story of these two people, this small, lakeside motel that’s existed for generations, it shows the reality that the things that matter actually exist beyond time or place; they’re timeless and always.”
