Luke Combs, Tim McGraw, Miranda Lambert Among ACM Awards Performers

Luke Combs, Tim McGraw and Miranda Lambert are just a few of the artists who will be performing at the upcoming 2020 ACM Awards. The ceremony, hosted by Keith Urban, will take place virtually this year, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Typically held in Las Vegas, this year’s ceremony will take place at the Grand Ole Opry, the Ryman Auditorium, and the Bluebird Cafe.

“We’re less than a month away from the 55th ACM Awards!” the Academy of Country Music announced earlier this week. ‘A Night of Heart and Hits’ will be coming to you live from Nashville with host Keith Urban Wednesday, September 16th at 8/7c on CBS. This year’s show will be making history as it will be held for the first time from Nashville’s iconic Grand Ole Opry House, Ryman Auditorium & The Bluebird Cafe. It will also be the first-ever totally virtual #ACMAwards show!”

Artists performing at the Ryman stage include Kelsea Ballerini, who will sing her rowdy “Hole in the Bottle” track, Maren Morris performing “To Hell & Back,” Thomas Rhett joining Jon Pardi on “Beer Can’t Fix,” and Old Dominion, who is the most-nominated group of the evening, performing a medley of their No. 1 hits.

On the intimate Bluebird Cafe stage, Jimmie Allen will sing “Make Me Want To,” while Luke Combs performs “Better Together.” Miranda will be joined by songwriters Natalie Hemby and Luke Dick to sing “Bluebird,” and Tim will perform his mega-hit, “I Called Mama.”

After originally postponing the original date of April 5, the decision was also made to relocate the ceremony to Music City, to decrease travel needs for the artists.

“While we were disappointed to postpone our April show in Las Vegas, we couldn’t be more thrilled to host the rescheduled 55th ACM Awards in the home of country music for the first time in the Academy’s history,” ACM CEO Damon Whiteside said at the time. “First and foremost, we want to ensure the safety of our artists and industry, and to ease the burdens of traveling large teams; therefore, we decided to bring the ACM Awards to them this September in Nashville.

“Now, more than ever, is the time to bring our community together to honor the best in our genre, and there is no more special place to do that than three of the most revered venues in Country Music –– The Grand Ole Opry House, The Ryman Auditorium and The Bluebird Cafe,” he continued. “A huge thank you to these historic venues and to the state of Tennessee and city of Nashville for all of the support in making this a reality!”

Tenille Townes and Riley Green, who won New Female Artist of the Year and New Male Artist of the Year, respectively, will also perform, along with several other artists who will be announced at a later date.

The 2020 ACM Awards will air on Wednesday, September 16, at 8:00 PM ET on CBS.
