Matthew West, Anne Wilson and For KING & Country Among Dove Awards Nominees

The 53rd annual Dove Awards nominees were just announced, with several well-known names receiving multiple nominations. Matthew West earned seven nods, including as a songwriter on two Song of the Year nominations, both for Anne Wilson‘s “My Jesus” and for Tasha Layton’s “Look What You’ve Done.”

For KING & COUNTRY received six nominations, including for Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year, for “Relate” and Artist of the Year. Wilson received six nods as well, including for New Artist of the Year, and both Pop/Contemporary Recorded Album of the Year, for My Jesus , and Pop/ Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year, for the record’s title track. Wilson’s “Mamas,” which features  Lady A‘s Hillary Scott, was also nominated for Bluegrass/Country/Roots Recorded Song of the Year.

“I’m so grateful for the Dove award nominations!” West says of the nominations. “The Dove Awards are always a very special night honoring the work God has done through Christ-centered music that I’m passionate about making. To be recognized in any way is just a great confirmation that maybe someone out there is listening to these songs I write and the message of hope in Jesus is resonating with them. That always has been and always will be why I do what I do.”

Wilson spoke out about her excitement at receiving multiple nods on social media, sharing a video of her parents learning the good news.

“You guys!! I’m so honored to be nominated for SIX Dove Awards,” Wilson said. “Thank you to everyone who supports my music and has been on this journey with me. This is incredible!”

GMA President Jackie Patillo spoke out about all of the nominees after the news was announced.

“Congratulations to this year’s impressive list of Dove Awards nominees,” Patillo said. “For the past few years, we’ve chosen a theme for each show that represents our community and why we celebrate. Today we announced this year’s theme, Sound of Heaven. Although our musical styles may be different, our mission is the same. Together we lift one voice – the sound of heaven.”

West’s multiple nods come less than two weeks before he headlines his own A Night of Worship at the Mother Church with Matthew West and Friends, taking place at the Ryman Auditorium on Sunday, August 21. Tickets can be found at  Ryman.com.

The Dove Awards will take place on October 18 at the Allen Arena in Lipscomb University. Tickets are available here. A list of all of the nominees can be found at DoveAwards.com.
