Niko Moon Vows to Only Release Happy Music [EXCLUSIVE]

Niko Moon’s debut EP, Good Time, sums up everything he believes about life. The Texas native had already made a name for himself as a songwriter, penning hits like “Homegrown” and “Keep Me in Mind” for the Zac Brown Band, and “Back to Life” for Rascal Flatts, among others. But he still had a desire to be an artist as well, which is why he released Good Time earlier this year, putting his own spin on some of his favorite songs, which he wrote entirely with his wife, Anna Moon.

“We met under the blanket of music, when we met each other,” Niko told Everything Nash, speaking of his decision to write all the songs with his spouse.  “I knew that she was a songwriter, and an artist herself. So we always have had that mutual respect for each other in that way. We just know each other so well. The reason I wanted to write my album with her is because I really wanted the album to be personal and about me, and who knows me better than my wife?”

Niko just released a new song, “Dance With Me,” from Good Time, which embodies exactly what he wanted the message of his album to be.

“‘Dance With Me’ is all about rolling the dice and taking that chance to get that special person you like out on the dance floor,” Niko explained.

“Dance With Me” is one of five songs on Good Time that Niko hopes takes people to another place, if only for a little while.

“I really love making glass half full kind of music,” Niko explained. “I kind of have a little personal world rule for myself that I made for myself, which is no sad songs. I even have a song on my upcoming album called ‘No Sad Songs.’ I just love making happy music, happy country music. So that’s just what I like to do. I love making people happy. When you listen to one of my songs, it should be able to take you on like a three minutes, 30 second vacation.”

Niko is still writing songs for other artists, and he’ll gladly write a tear-jearker for them, but when it comes to his own music, he plans on continuing to focus on happy, feel-good tunes instead.

“I just feel like that’s kind of what I’m called to do as an artist, is to do the more happy, positive, uplifting, glass half-full style of country music,” Niko said. “I’m really inspired by people like Bob Marley, Jimmy Buffett, guys like that. And I want to bring that sort of  healing, or at least mentality, just to country music.”

Niko expects his full EP to be released in 2021. Download, purchase or stream Good Time at NikoMoon.com.
