Rascal Flatts Announce New Album, ‘Twenty Years of Rascal Flatts’

New music is coming from Rascal Flatts! The trio, made up of Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney, announced that Twenty Years of Rascal Flatts The Greatest Hits will be released on October 2. The 20-song project includes some of Rascal Flatts’ biggest hits over the years, including “Bless the Broken Road,” “Life Is a Highway,” “Here Comes Goodbye” and more.

“When we were putting together the track listing for this it was an emotional but nostalgic feeling getting a chance to look back during this anniversary year,” Gary said in a statement. “We hope that our fans feel the same way when they listen to it. This release and this year as a band is all a huge thank you and celebration for them.”

Rascal Flatts previously announced they were planning on heading out on their farewell Life Is a Highway Tour in 2020, and then disbanding to work on other projects. With the tour canceled because of COVID-19, Gary hinted that there might be more music in the future for the Flatts.

“Joe Don really wanted to be home,” Gary told BRELAND on a recent episode of Land of the BRE Radio on Apple Music Country. “He was like, ‘Man, we’ve toured for 20 some years. I just really want to be home.’ And I was like, ‘All right. Well, I’m not done.’ I mean, I feel this is what I’ve been called to do. So we were kind of in a phase like, ‘All right, well, do you want to go and cut out new music? What are we doing?’ And then the COVID thing hit, and we had the song ‘How They Remember You,’ which is our current single. It’s out right now.

“It had a different meaning then, and then after the COVID thing, so many people were dying,” he continued. “So it took on a whole new meaning, the song did. Now at this point, it was kind of like we were robbed of our farewell tour. And I mean, I’m always going to make music. It’s given us time to do some of our own personal individual stuff. I’m sure at some point we’ll probably do something again, but for now who knows what the touring thing and whatever, so. And I think Joe Don being home a year, that’s what he wanted. He may be ready to go back to work. I don’t know, but I’m going to… I’m just focused on my solo stuff and we’ll see what happens with Flatts down the line.”
