Rascal Flatts Hint They May Reschedule Farewell Life is a Highway Tour: ‘It’s a Moving Target’

Rascal Flatts were forced to cancel their farewell Life is a Highway Tour, because of the coronavirus pandemic. The trio, made up of Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney, planned to use the tour to get in front of their fans one more time, which is why they were especially disappointed to be forced to be off the road. Still, the Flatts hint that they may still reschedule the tour, as much for their fans as themselves.

“I think that, like everybody else, no one saw this coming and we were all thrown for a loop. Quite frankly, 2020 has really sucked for everybody,” Jay said (via ABC Audio). “We are taking it day by day. It’s a moving target. There’s not really a timeline for how and when venues are gonna open back up and what the social distancing measures are gonna look like. So we’re playing the wait and see game right now.”

The threesome credit their fans with all of their success over the past two decades, which is why they are doing everything they can to be able to hit the road one more time.

“We don’t wanna leave people hanging and just go away,” Jay acknowledged. “We certainly want to go out and celebrate with them. As to when and how that’s gonna happen, we simply don’t know yet. But we’re really, really focused right now on what the next steps are gonna be as far as getting back on the road and getting in front of the fans and not only celebrating… [an] incredible 20 years with them, but also giving them a chance to see us for what may be one of the last times we’re around.”

Rascal Flatts admitted that canceling the Life is a Highway Tour was one of the hardest decisions they have ever made.

“Our hearts are simply broken,” Jay said on social media at the time. “This is not the way we ever dreamed our 2020 would go… I know that we are not alone – everyone’s lives have been turned upside down. We love you all, you are our life’s blood and the reason we do what we do.”

Rascal Flatts just announced they will release a new EP, How They Remember You, on July 31. Pre-order the project via Amazon or their website.
