Riley Green Performs 'Worst Way' At the American Music Awards [WATCH]

Riley Green performed double-duty at the recent American Music Awards. Green both introduced Keith Urban, who performed “Summer Breeze” from his Flow State album, out on June 12, and sang his own recent No. 1 hit, “Worst Way.”

“Worst Way” is the debut single from Green’s latest Don’t Mind If I Do album. Green wrote “Worst Way” by himself, inspired in part by Eric Church’s “Like a Wrecking Ball.”

“When I wrote ‘Worst Way’ that was kind of in that vein,” Green says (via American Songwriter). “And I had a vision of songs that give me that type of feeling over the years. ‘Slow Dancing in a Burning Room’ John Mayer, that vibe. Something about that was so cool to make it country and make it my own. I would’ve never thought that song would be as big as it has been, but it’s had a whole moment.”

Riley Green Hints at Collaborations On His Next Album

Green is putting the finishing touches on his next record, one he hints has a few special guests. He had massive success with both “You Look Like You Love Me” and “Don’t Mind If I Do” with Ella Langley. He also has a hit single at radio with  Carly Pearce on “If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay.”

“Well, there are some collaborations on this project that I didn’t even expect,” Green tells Taste of Country Nights. “So some of those things were, it’s kind of pinch yourself moments.”

“When you get artists that you’re such a big fan of and that you grew up listening to, be a part of your project… I’m sure I can’t name any names,” he continues. “But there’s some really awesome collaborations coming on this record.”

Riley Green Is Ready to Do More Duets With Ella Langley

Both of Green’s duets with Langley have been No. 1 singles and won major awards. So it stands to reason that Green is ready to release more music with Langley in the future.

“I don’t know how we wouldn’t entertain that,” Green says. “We’ve had such a great track record, and we were fortunate to be on tour together, too. She was out on the road with me when we had those two songs, and that doesn’t happen very often.”

Riley Green Expands His Fame to TV Shows

Green recently appeared on several episodes of Marshals, thanks to his good friend, Luke Grimes. He was also just announced as a coach for the upcoming season of The Voicemeaning Green’s life is expanding far beyond country music.

“I’m just trying to rest when I can,” Green tells Entertainment Tonight. “We’ve been pretty busy. And obviously, doing the Marshals show was a new experience for me; doing that amongst the tour was pretty tough. But this year, we got The Voice. So that’s going to be a huge opportunity. But also, we’ll be pretty busy.”
