Scotty McCreery Is Eager To Bring Son Avery On His Damn Strait Tour

When Scotty McCreery hits the road later this month on his Damn Strait Tour, he will have a special guest on the road: his son, Avery! The 29-year-old will bring his wife, Gabi, and his baby boy on tour with him, marking a first for McCreery.

“[I have] a lot to look forward to going into 2023,” McCreery tells Music Mayhem. “[We’re] bringing a baby on the road and getting him used to the lifestyle. Like it or not, [I’m] going to be a road daddy for a while, so hopefully he loves it.”

McCreery has spent much of his time since winning American Idol in 2011 on the road, but he has never done it on his own bus with his family, until now.

“Next year, we’re bringing out a baby bus,” McCreery explains. “So he will be with me out there most of the dates. That will be a fun new way to do the road. I’ve kind of had my system down pat for ten years now. So, that will be a little change, but a great one.”

McCreery previously said that he was eager to have his son and wife join him on tour, even if it was taking a lot of special accommodations.

“Gabi will be out there a lot with me too, so he’ll have his own little crib and everything,” McCreery tells Everything Nash. “It’ll be a completely different way to do the road for me. I’ve been doing it now over ten years. I’ve got my system, so this is gonna throw that for a loop, but I can’t wait. It’s gonna be awesome.”

Even for someone as laidback as McCreery, he acknowledges that he is unsure how it will go to have an infant on the road with him. But, if his first several weeks of being a parent are any indication, he will do just fine with having Avery join him on the road.

“I’m a pretty go-with-the-flow kind of guy, so I’m not sure I knew what to expect, ” McCreery says. “I don’t know if there are too many surprises for me. I will say, I never changed a diaper before, and I thought it would really, totally gross me out. But there is something about when it’s your kid, it’s like, ‘All right man, come here.’ It hasn’t grossed me out as much as I thought it would.”

McCreery celebrated having a multi-week, No. 1 hit with “Damn Strait” last year. He is back at radio with “It Matters To Her.” McCreery’s Damn Strait Tour will wrap up on April 30 in Hagerstown, Maryland. Find music and tour dates at ScottyMcCreery.com.
