Scotty McCreery has big, big plans for 2023 — his headlining Damn Strait Tour! The 29-year-old will kick off his tour on January 20 in Hinton, Oklahoma, and wrap up the tour on April 30 in Hagerstown, Maryland.
“Looking forward to hitting the road in 2023 with the Damn Strait Tour,” McCreery says. “I’ve enjoyed my time at home learning to be a Dad to Avery, but I’ve missed being onstage with the band and performing for the fans. Can’t wait to see everyone in the new year!”
McCreery plans to bring his newborn son and his wife, Gabi, on the road with him in 2023.
“For the end of this year, he’s not gonna make it out to any shows,” McCreery told Everything Nash. “He’s still young, but next year we’re gonna bring out a baby bus, so we’ll get him out there. Gabi will be out there a lot with me too, so he’ll have his own little crib and everything. It’ll be a completely different way to do the road for me. I’ve been doing it now over ten years. I’ve got my system, so this is gonna throw that for a loop, but I can’t wait. It’s gonna be awesome.”
McCreery will have plenty of songs to choose from when he hits the road next year. The American Idol alum just released his Same Truck: The Deluxe Album, with all 12 songs from 2021’s Same Truck project, along with six brand-new tracks.
“We had a ton of songs ready to go, and we even had to narrow it down from stuff we’d recorded to make the deluxe album” McCreery told Everything Nash. “But the way we made the Same Truck record was kind of in two different parts because of the pandemic. So the more recent stuff with the recency bias won out, but I still loved all these other songs we had, so I’m glad with this deluxe album, we found a home for them, and can get them out there in the world, and hopefully, people enjoy them.”
The entire trajectory of McCreery’s career changed with his multi-week, No. 1 “Damn Strait” single.
“It’s so fun right now, just getting to go out there … to see the fans singing these songs back to me, and the smiles on their faces,” McCreery reflected. “It wasn’t that long ago that I didn’t have these five number ones, these hits to play, and I was grounding up some covers to try and entertain the crowd. And so now to have my own stuff that they get excited for, it’s pretty special.”
