Scotty McCreery loves everything about Christmas, especially the music. So it’s fitting that the new father performed a holiday classic, “Holly Jolly Christmas,” for this year’s CMA Country Christmas.

McCreery was anxious to return to the festive show, after a lengthy absence.

“It’s my first time performing on CMA Country Christmas in like a decade, which is nuts,” McCreery says. ”I had so much fun when we got to do it before. I sing Christmas music all year long. Ask my band, ask my family. So to get to do this with all the artists on the big stage is pretty cool.”

McCreery, who recently performed a cover of Elvis Presley’s “Santa Claus Is Back In Town” for CMT‘s Campfire Sessions, is such a fan of Christmas music, he sings it all year long.

“If you know anything about me, you know I love Christmas,” McCreery said. “I love Christmas music. I sing it all year long. On the bus, backstage, at home. It’s constant. I love it. And something I love even more than that is Elvis Christmas music. I think it’s as good as it gets. So I’m going to play you one of my favorite Elvis Christmas songs.”

The 29-year-old performed earlier this year as part of the annual Opry Country Christmas, which married two of his favorite things for one unforgettable night.

“It’s just my favorite season,” McCreery told Everything Nash. “It’s my favorite kind of music. I sing Christmas music all year long, so to get to do it at the Grand Ole Opry, and have a packed house there at the Opry House, I’m gonna be in hog heaven. I love it.  I can’t wait for that.”

McCreery’s latest record, Same Truck: The Deluxe Album, will likely be a Christmas present for a lot of country music fans this year. The project includes all of the songs on his 2021 Same Truck record, along with six new songs.

“We had a ton of songs ready to go, and we even had to narrow it down from stuff we’d recorded to make the deluxe album” McCreery tells Everything Nash. “But the way we made the Same Truck record was kind of in two different parts because of the pandemic. So the more recent stuff with the recency bias won out, but I still loved all these other songs we had, so I’m glad with this deluxe album, we found a home for them, and can get them out there in the world, and hopefully people enjoy them.”
