Scotty McCreery Shares Reason For ‘Same Truck: The Deluxe Album’ [EXCLUSIVE]

Scotty McCreery‘s Same Truck: The Deluxe Album is out! The record includes all 12 songs on the original record, released in 2021, along with six brand-new songs, tracks McCreery wanted to include on Same Truck but didn’t have room.

“We had a ton of songs ready to go, and we even had to narrow it down from stuff we’d recorded to make the deluxe album” McCreery tells Everything Nash. “But the way we made the Same Truck record was kind of in two different parts because of the pandemic. So the more recent stuff with the recency bias won out, but I still loved all these other songs we had, so I’m glad with this deluxe album, we found a home for them, and can get them out there in the world, and hopefully people enjoy them.”

The North Carolina native already released “Nothin’ Right” and “Small Town Story” from Same Truck: The Deluxe Album, but his favorite song is one that is much more personal, and reminds him of his wife, Gabi.

“I love them all. For me, one that I go back to a lot — the groove, everything about ‘Falling For a Stranger’ is one that I really love,” McCreery says. “It’s that sentiment. Me and Gabi, we’ve known each other our whole lives, so she never really was a stranger to me. But the idea behind it of just like, ‘Man, if I never knew you, and you walked in to a bar, I would have locked in on you right away.’ So that one is cool for me.”

Like Seasons Change, Same Truck: The Deluxe Album is also available on vinyl, giving listeners a different experience with the record.

“My band used to always, back in the day, go to record stores,” says the singer. “They still do, but I used to be like, What’s the big deal? I can get that on my phone.’ But nowadays I’m really hooked on vinyl myself. Our collection is growing, and every night when we’re making dinner or doing whatever, opening a bottle of wine, we’ve got vinyl on the record player. So hopefully people get a kick out of it like I do too.”

Same Truck: The Deluxe Album might have just been released, but McCreery is already looking ahead to a new album, and more touring.

“We’ve already got a good amount of the tour schedule lined up for next year, which is fun,” says the singer. “I’m definitely an album cycle writer, and we are getting into that. We’ve already started, but this week especially, we’re hitting hard on it. So we’re thinking next record, thinking about when we’re gonna get back in the studio. It’s exciting. The creative process for me really gets my gears going.”

McCreery is enjoying some time at home with his new baby boy, Avery, who was born on October 24. He will return to touring at the end of the year, which includes a performance as part of Opry Country Christmas. While his son won’t get to join him on the road this year, the 29-year-old is already making plans to have his family with him in 2023.

“For the end of this year, he’s not gonna make it out to any shows,” McCreery reveals. “He’s still young, but next year we’re gonna bring out a baby bus, so we’ll get him out there. Gabi will be out there a lot with me too, so he’ll have his own little crib and everything. It’ll be a completely different way to do the road for me. I’ve been doing it now over ten years. I’ve got my system, so this is gonna throw that for a loop, but I can’t wait. It’s gonna be awesome.”
