Trisha Yearwood Makes Career Decisions Based on Benefiting Causes Important to Her

Trisha Yearwood has accomplished more than most artists in country music. The 55-year-old has enjoyed more than three decades as an artist, and has had numerous multi-platinum albums, sold-out tours and earned more than a dozen major awards, including three coveted Grammys. So while she is thrilled to be working, and working hard, her career decisions are now driven by what will benefit the causes she is passionate about, and not just her bank account.

“My passions are breast cancer awareness and the military and animal rescue…” Trisha told ABC Audio. “So now when people come to me and say, ‘We want you to do blah, blah,’ I’m like, ‘Okay, find a way to benefit these passions and let’s talk.'”

The Georgia native is also the host of the popular cooking show, Trisha’s Southern Kitchen, which airs on the Food Network. She is working on her third cookbook, and also has a line of furniture, and food products sold at Williams-Sonoma. The result is she has very little downtime, although she has figured out a way to streamline all of her projects.

“[Of] the things that I do outside of music, the cooking show is the biggest chunk of my time,” Trisha explained. “Finding that block to film is not easy because you have to film in about a three- or four-week block. And usually I’m not anywhere for three weeks.”

“The furniture line and all those other things are things that I can find the time to do,” she continued. “And once I figure what that’s gonna be, then they’re off and running and building and I’m just approving and I don’t have to be right in the middle of it all.”

Married to Garth Brooks, and a proud “bonus mom” to Garth’s three children from his first marriage, Trisha released Every Girl in 2019, marking her first album of new music in 12 years, since Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love was released in 2007. Thankfully, the Grand Ole Opry member vows she will never allow so much time to pass before sharing new music with her fans.

“I definitely don’t want to wait that long to make new music,” Trisha assured. “I just had the best time. I’m not done. I’m just getting started.”

Trisha is in the upcoming class of celebrities to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, along with the Judds, Kelly Clarkson and others. A specific date for Trisha’s ceremony has yet to be announced.
