The Basement Joins List of Nashville Venues Requiring COVID-19 Vaccination

The Basement is joining 5 Spot and City Winery in requiring COVID-19 vaccines for guests. Both The Basement and The Basement East will now require either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to enter the premises.

“The health and safety of fans, artists and staff are paramount to The Basement & The Basement East anytime but especially during the COVID-19 pandemic,” a statement reads at TheBasementNashville.com. “Effective August 15, 2021 until future notice, all patrons, artists and staff entering the venue are required to present either proof of a full course of COVID-19 vaccination, with their final dose at least fourteen days prior to the show or proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken in the prior 48 hours. We will continually assess the information and recommendations provided by the CDC and update our policy as needed.”

In addition, temperatures will be taken upon entry, and face masks are required for staff, and encouraged for patrons.

Diskin Cider also announced that they will require guests to either wear masks or show proof of vaccination before entering their facility,

“Starting Thursday, August 5th, we are requiring anyone who has not received the Covid-19 vaccine to wear a mask at the cidery,” Diskin Cider announced on social media. “We also request that if you’re not feeling well, please stay home. We want to continue slinging delicious cider safely. Let’s beat this as a community.”

Both 5 Spot and City Winery announced last week that they would also require vaccinations for proof of entry, as cases of the delta variant of COVID-19 are on the rise.

“To our 5 Spot family and friends, After due consideration we’ve decided to require proof of vaccination as a condition of entry into our venue beginning Saturday Aug 7th. In times such as these we must behave as reasonably and responsibly as possible,” the management of 5 Spot announced. “So, before you come party with us, please make sure you have your vaccination card (or a photo of it) at the ready. We will be verifying vaccination status before admission to The 5 Spot is granted. No ID? No Entry. No Vaccination? No Entry.”

“Your safety is our #1 priority,” City Winery also shared. “All indoor City Winery guests will be required to show proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test for entry. Masks are required to be worn indoors when moving about the building. For additional info please visit: https://bit.ly/cwnashsafety.”

As more and more restaurants seem to be requiring vaccinations, one person who isn’t a fan of the trend is Tennessee’s Governor Bill Lee, who criticized the policies.

“I think that requiring vaccinations is generally a bad idea for private businesses or for anybody,” Governor Lee says (via Fox 17).
