The Grand Ole Opry Announces New Reopening Date

The Grand Ole Opry has announced changes to their reopening plan. After closing to the general public in March, due to COVID-19, the Opry intially planned to reopen in the beginning of July, before changing those plans to a hopeful reopening date at the beginning of August. But according to their newest statement, the Grand Ole Opry will not allow an audience for the Saturday night shows through August 31, with the exception of two Saturdays in August.

“To align with Metro Nashville health and safety guidelines amid current COVID-19 concerns, the Grand Ole Opry has canceled performances that include a live audience through August 31 with the exception of August 22 and August 29,” the statement reads at Opry.com.

“While we are unsure when ticketed shows will return, presently tickets are on sale for shows starting September 1,” the statement continued. “We continue to hope these shows will take place as planned.”

It is currently unclear why tickets are being sold for the last two Saturdays in August, but they seem to be available for purchase. The lineup for those shows has yet to be announced.

The Grand Ole Opry has continued its weekly shows for 4932 consecutive Saturday nights, although all other shows have been canceled or postponed for the time being.

“We continue to work to resume Grand Ole Opry shows with live audiences as soon as we can do so aligning with the re-opening guidelines of Nashville,” the Grand Ole Opry previously shared. “When shows with a live ticketed audience do return, we plan to start slowly, having shows one night per week on Saturdays. Assuming all goes well, we would expand to additional nights.”

The Opry might be closed to a live audience, but they have resumed backstage tours.

“Your safety, and the safety of our artists and team are our first priorities at the Opry House,” the Opry announced last month. “We’ve put measures in place at every guest and staff touchpoint to ensure that your experience is safe and fun, whether you join us for a tour or a show. And we have the support from our team at Ryman Hospitality Properties to make sure that we have the very best safeguards and training in place so that you can feel good about your visit to the Opry House.”
