Tim McGraw Reveals Significance of ‘Here on Earth’ Album Title

Tim McGraw just announced his first studio album in five years, with Here on Earth. The title track is everything Tim wanted to say in his new project, which includes his current single, “I Called Mama.”

“First off, it’s the title track to the album because it says everything that I wanted to say with the scope of the album,” Tim shared with BMLG. “It says it within that song in particular. It sort of goes through the stages of life. And what the song’s talking about is your love for your family is why you’re here. That’s what the song said to me.

“I always like the third song on the album to sort of have a feel that draws you in,” he continued. “After you’ve listened to the first and second song, when you get to the third song you want something that sort of keeps everybody interested, and I think that that song does that. I hope it does that, anyway.”

Tim also dropped a video for “Here on Earth,” which shares powerful stories of how people have overcome adversity and challenges. The Louisiana native has released more than 70 singers throughout his 30-year career, but says “I Called Mama,” currently in the Top 15, might be one of the most important singles he has ever shared with his fans.

“When I heard it I cried when it got to the hook of a song. I just sort of fell apart and then I wanted Faith to hear it, but I didn’t want to play … it was just a guitar work tape, and I didn’t want Faith to hear it,” Tim recalled. “I wanted to sing it to her. So, I was trying to learn the words to it really quickly, so I could sing her just the first verse and the course.

“About 30 minutes I had it ready and I said, ‘I want you to hear this song,'” he remarked. “So, I sat down at the kitchen table I started singing it and I couldn’t get through it. Every time I tried to get to the chorus I would fall apart on it. And she would start crying because I was crying. It has a simple message to it, but it just means so much.”

Here on Earth will be released on August 21. Pre-order the album via Amazon or Tim’s website.
