Thomas Rhett Calls Wife Lauren Akins’ New Memoir ‘Really Inspiring’

Thomas Rhett admits he isn’t much of a reader, but he still couldn’t put down his wife, Lauren Akins‘ new memoir, Live in Love: Growing Together Through Life’s Changes. The book, out on August 18, shares much of the details of their life so far, including the adoption of their oldest daughter, Willa Gray, from Uganda.

“It’s hard to read in the best way,” Thomas shared with his record label. “This book really gets into severe detail of the adoption process, of what it was like when we first had kids and what it was like when I first got on the road and she had just graduated from Tennessee with a nursing degree and didn’t use her nursing degree. [She] talks about her childhood and what shaped her into the person she is now. And I mean, it’s a memoir. So you have to be really invested to know that this is a story of her life.”

The “Be a Light” singer firmly believes that Live in Love has something for everyone, even the younger generation.

“I don’t read books. The last book I read was Harry Potter, but this book is absolutely fantastic,” Thomas praised. “I am biased because she’s my wife but I think it’s a really, really great read and I think it’s gonna encourage and inspire a lot of seven and eight year old girls and also inspire a lot of people a lot older than seven and eight, just to learn that your decisions have weight and your words have weight and to really think about the choices you make in life. It’s truly inspiring.”

Since adopting Willa Gray, the couple has welcomed Ada James and Lennon Love to their family, with Thomas hinting he could handle several more in the future.

“I thought that adding three to the mix would be a lot harder but it really just tacks on a little bit to the chaos,” Thomas previously shared. “I think when you have more than two kids, you could have five, six, seven. I mean, it does get harder but I think that as they kind of become into that one and a half year old to two year range it starts to get little bit easier. I would say the infant stage is definitely the hardest. But I think once Lennon starts to get six months to a year, I think it’s gonna be just fine.”
