William Lee Golden and The Goldens Release ‘Take It Easy’ [WATCH]

A new single and video are out from William Lee Golden and The Goldens. The group, made up of The Oak Ridge Boys‘ William Lee Golden and his sons Rusty, Craig, and Chris, just released “Take It Easy.” The song, originally recorded by the Eagles in 1972, is from The Goldens’ latest Golden Classics album, out now.

“This has always been a family favorite and since this is the 50th anniversary for the song, it seemed appropriate to include on our new project,” Golden says. “I hope everyone enjoys it as much as we enjoyed creating it,”

The Goldens’ “Take It Easy” arrangement and video shows the family band’s own take on the iconic tune.

“The video really captures the essence of the song,” Golden told MMusicMag.com. “Although we love the Eagles’ version tremendously, we wanted to do something a little bit different, which I feel we did … I hope for even five minutes this song will help people forget about all of the problems in the world,”

Golden Classics has plenty of classic songs, of all genres, on the project. Although “Take It Easy” came at the end of the recording, the group says it’s their love of the band that could inspire their next project as well.

“It was the last song we recorded for these albums,” Golden recounts, adding that they also recorded the Eagles’ “Peaceful Easy Feeling.” “Those were the last two songs. It’s exciting and exhilarating. Not only recording these songs but hearing it back and realizing we created something special—it’s still exciting.

“We hope those last two Eagles’ songs lead us to the next project,” adds Chris.

Golden has spent his entire life making music, but he admits there was something special about recording Golden Classics with his own family members.

“During the time I was voted out of The Oaks, and then voted me back in, these are the guys I did music with,” Golden reflects. “My sons and I spent about eight years doing music together. Playing music as a family—that’s what I loved. I gained a new respect for my sons as talented and seasoned musicians. They have a great feel for music. It has simplicity but a heartfelt feel. We had an amazing group of musicians in the studio with us. It was a tight-knit group of people.”
