Anne Wilson Releases ‘Hey Girl’ in 4 Versions: ‘I Got to Explore My Artistry’

Anne Wilson is giving fans what they want with her “Hey Girl” single, out now. The singer-songwriter released three new versions: the Kentucky version, the Live from Rock the South version and the Radio version) of the uptempo track. The original version of “Hey Girl” is on Wilson’s freshman My Jesus album, which was released in April.

“This song ‘Hey Girl’ is an anthem for all women,” Wilson explains. “It’s a reminder that we’re made in the image of God and that our identity is in Him. I’m so excited to be releasing this multitrack single with four different versions of ‘Hey Girl’ on it. I got to explore my artistry through this and create versions that were each very special to me. I pray this song reminds you that you’re a blood bought, battle fought, made NEW child of The King.”

Wilson burst onto the Christian music scene with “My Jesus,” released last year. Her entire freshman album was the culmination of a lot of hard work, a lot of tears, and a lot of faith in a journey she didn’t always understand.

“I wanted to work for NASA,” Wilson told Everything Nash. “I wanted to go down that path. Since I was really, really little — my mom said when I was three and four years old — I would always be looking up at space and just admiring the beauty. I would ask to stay up late so that I could look at the stars. I was just always very big into NASA and space, and math and science came naturally to me. That’s what I wanted to do, and it seemed like that was what the path was going to be the path for me. And then my brother passed away in 2017, and that’s when everything shifted for me. My perspective changed on life in a really big way. I was only 15 at the time, so I was still in my early high school years. I decided to pursue music and drop everything to do with NASA.”

Wilson can also be heard on a new version of Matthew West‘s “Me On Your Mind,” which Wilson and West co-wrote with Jeff Pardo. Wilson is nominated for six Dove Awards, including Songwriter of the Year, Song of the Year (for “My Jesus”), and New Artist of the Year. The Dove Awards will take place on October 18 at the Allen Arena in Lipscomb University. Tickets are available here.

Wilson is spending the fall on the road, as part of The Healer Tour, with Casting Crowns and Cain. All of the “Hey Girl” versions are available here. Her My Jesus: From Heartache to Hope book will be out on October 25. Find music and tour dates at AnneWilsonOfficial.com.
