Scotty McCreery Performs Sold-Out Show at Gruene Hall

Scotty McCreery will likely never, ever forget his September 23 concert. The American Idol alum performed to a sold-out crowd at the famous Gruene Hall, in New Braunfels, Texas, where George Strait‘s now-legendary career began.

McCreery celebrated the event on Facebook, sharing a few photos from the memorable evening.

I can’t describe how pumped I was to play Gruene Hall on Friday night. What a crowd!! What a night!

McCreery filmed the video for “Damn Strait,” his multi-week, No. 1 hit tribute to the King of Country Music, in Gruene Hall, which is where the idea for a concert in the same place began, with McCreery’s longtime manager, Scott Stem.

“I told him then ‘Bud, you need to play here. I think this is a must do,'” Stem recalls, via Facebook. “He said ‘Do you think they would want me? The greats have played here.’ I responded back ‘Yes, I think they will want you…and I think it would be a night you won’t forget.'”

Stem quickly began the process to get McCreery to perform in Gruene Hall, with the concert selling out in less than an hour when tickets went on sale. Prior to his performance, McCreery said he knew it would be one of the all-time biggest highlights of his life and career.

“[It’s like] going on the Opry stage,” McCreery told Everything Nash and other media outlets. “You’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, my heroes have played here before that I grew up listening to.’ And Gruene Hall is that same kind of thing. Number one, a lot of other acts besides George Strait [played there]. But George really cut his teeth there, him and his Ace in the Hole band. That’s where
they got their start.”

“Damn Strait” is from McCreery’s latest Same Truck album. The father-to-be will release Same Truck: The Deluxe Album on November 18. The project, which includes all of the songs on his 2021 Same Truck record, plus six new songs, will be available digitally, as well as on vinyl and CD.

“We had more songs I loved ready for the original release of Same Truck than we could put on that album, so I am pumped that Triple Tigers asked me to do a Deluxe Edition where I could add six more songs,” McCreery said of his new set of tunes. “We’ve also had a lot of requests for a vinyl version of Same Truck over the last year, so I’m excited we can offer that option as well.”

McCreery just dropped the video for “Nothin’ Right,” from Same Truck: The Deluxe Album. The new video comes as McCreery’s current single, “It Matters To Her,” is steadily climbing the charts.

“I’m a lyric guy,” McCreery said of the inspiration behind the sweet love song. “I’m a story guy, a message guy. And this story was just us sitting back, talking one day, me and Rhett [Akins] and LeeThomas Miller and just being like, ‘Man, you know what I’m learning? It’s just the littlest things. Like if I go downstairs and just empty the dishwasher, and she doesn’t have to tell me to stop watching golf and go do it, it’s a little thing, but it adds up over time.

“‘And I’m learning as a young husband, that’s what adds up and makes the difference.,” he adds. “And I can still work on it. Like, I still shave and leave my beard hair in the sink. and she yells from downstairs like, ‘What the heck?’ But, it’s a cool song to sing.”
