Blake Shelton Says ‘The Voice’ Will Continue During Coronavirus Pandemic

According to Blake Shelton, the show must go on, at least when it comes to The Voice. After saying he doubted they would be able to start filming Season 19 on time, the 44-year-old reveals that he will soon have to leave his Oklahoma ranch, where has been spending time with Gwen Stefani since the coronavirus pandemic began, to begin shooting the reality TV talent show.

“We have to go next week,” Blake shared on the Bobby Bones Show. “We actually start working on the show again, which is going to be interesting, to say the least. I’m not sure how it’s gonna work, but we’re going.”

When asked if they could film the show from home, like they did for the end of Season 18, when Blake’s contestant Todd Tilghman was declared the winner, Blake said he doubts that will happen.

“I hope so, but if that happens, it will only happen maybe once the show goes live again,” Blake revealed. “We’re going to try to shoot our blind auditions like we always have, just without an audience, and obviously everybody however far away we’re supposed to be from each other. I don’t know how it’s gonna be, to be honest with you.”

The time on his ranch has been the longest Blake has been in one spot since his career began more than two decades ago, which will make it even harder when he has to head to California.

“I don’t miss the road,” Blake conceded. “I’ve been doing this for so long. 20 years. Obviously nobody likes these circumstances. I don’t like these circumstances. But I don’t hate being forced to stay home. I haven’t missed it yet. I know I will at some point. But right now, it’s like, I can actually see seasons changing. It’s pretty cool.”
