Brandon Davis has a new song coming out, just in time for Father’s Day. The singer-songwriter announces he will release a cover of Conway Twitty’s “That’s My Job” on Friday, June 16, in honor of Father’s Day.

Davis announced the news in a video shared on social media.

“This is a song tthat I have sang since I was little,” Davis says. “This is a song that has touched me in so many different ways, because of the story it tells, because of the connection of music that me and my dad have had my entire life, and now the connection with music I share with my kids. So we are going to be releasing a cover of the song “That’s My Job” that was originally cut by Conway Twitty. We are doing it this Friday, just in time for Father’s Day.”

Davis previously teased his version of “That’s My Job” with a video of him singing with his children, who he reveals will appear on the track with him.

“Not only is this a cover of ‘That’s My Job,’ but this is going to be the very first song ever that the kids have officially recorded vocals and sang with me on,” the father of four says. “Every one of my kids are on this track, belting it out, singing along with me, and I am so excited to finally have the entire family … The entire family, the whole Davis household, is on this track.”

Davis got emotional sharing the importance of “That’s My Job” to him, and how it parallels the relationship he has with his father, whom he calls his best friend.

“I might not have wrote this one, but I really, really hope that this song shows my dad how much I love him, and shows my kids how much I love them,” Davis says. “It’s so special to me, and it always will be, because this is my story that someone wrote years before I ever came along, and now I get to tell it.”

 

Twitty released “That’s My Job,” written by Gary Burr, in 1987. The song, from Twitty’s Borderline album, became a Top 10, gold-certified single for Twitty.

Davis is currently headlining his Hey Baby Tour, which just kicked off. The tour follows the release of Davis’ Jesus and Jesse James EP. Davis wrote or co-wrote all eight songs on the project, which soared to the Top 10 on iTunes when it was released.

“This entire EP is filled with a stripped-back country sound that brings back memories of the kind of country I grew up listening to,” Davis tells American Songwriter. “The main theme behind this EP is just the storytelling it holds and how unique each song is. I wanted to make sure there’s something for everybody no matter what phase of life they’re in. The songs take you on a personal journey that hopefully makes you feel like it was written just for you.”
