Chris Young Performs ‘Young Love & Saturday Nights’ on ‘GMA’ [WATCH]

Chris Young performed the title track of his latest album, Young Love & Saturday Nights, on Good Morning America. The singer-songwriter shared his thoughts on the song ahead of his electrifying performance.

“Honestly, it’s one of the biggest albums I’ve ever done, 18 tracks, and I think everybody can relate to this song,” Young explained. “It always cracks me up, ’cause people are like, ‘That sounds like the link to ‘Rebel Rebel,’ and I was like, ‘It’s because it is. David Bowie’s actually on the song, credited as a writer, and they just wrote a new song around that lick. I’m very excited to get on the road and start this tour, kick it off, and so happy the album’s out there.”

Ahead of the release of the record, Young reflected on making the massive project, his first since Famous Friends came out in 2021.

Young Love & Saturday Nights is one of the craziest processes of making music that I’ve ever had my life,” said the singer. “I could not be more proud of this album 18 songs biggest project I’ve ever done. And so many great songwriters, producers that join me on this. And very, very proud of this. Cannot wait for everybody to hear all the songs.”

It might have been three years between projects, but the Tennessee native used the time to make the record the best that it could be.

“I wanted this album to be special. I had a lot of time to work on this record, even though patience is not my strong suit,” Young shared during a recent media event. “I decided, ‘Hey, let’s change things up a little bit.’ There are songs on here that I didn’t write. There are songs on here that I co-wrote. There are songs that I produced by myself. There are songs I produced with my friends. And I really was just trying to find a lot of things that I wanted to say.”

When announcing the project, Young shared the story behind choosing the song, and making it the title track.

“‘Young Love & Saturday Nights’ is a song that just kind of fell in my lap, so to speak,” Young told his record label. “We were having some meetings, people were cycling in and out of the Sony building playing songs for the record. Obviously, I write most of my stuff, but not all. You look at the history of my music, you’ll find a lot of songs that have gone No. 1, and been huge hits for me that I didn’t write as well as the ones I did. And this is one that I definitely wish I had written. I just fell in love with it from first listen; obviously a summer vibe behind this one.”

Young will embark on his Young Love & Saturday Nights Tour on April 25 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He will also join Kane Brown on August 16 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington, as part of Brown’s star-studded In The Air Tour. Find all of Young’s music and tour dates at ChrisYoungCountry.com.
