Dan + Shay Announce The Heartbreak On The Map Tour

Dan + Shay are heading out on tour! The duo, made up of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, announce their headlining The Heartbreak On The Map Tour, kicking off on February 29 in Greenville, South Carolina. Ben Rector and Hailey Whitters will serve as the opening acts.

The tour news comes only a day before their Bigger Houses album is released. Earlier this year, Dan + Shay hinted they had a big tour planned in the near future, after spending much of 2023 in front of their fans as well.

“It’s always good to be out on the road,” Smyers said, ahead of the CMA Fest TV special, which featured Dan + Shay performing their mega-hit, “Speechless.” “We’re playing a bunch of shows this year, and a million shows next year. Just being able to be on stage in front of our fans — we’ve been off of the road for a minute, and hearing the fans singing these words back to us, it never gets old, truly.

“It’s the greatest feeling in the entire world,” he continued. “And it makes all the hard work that we’ve been doing in the studio — we’ve been kind of locked in the studio for the last eight to ten months … it just makes it all worth it to be able to stand on that stage and people sing your words back to you, is truly the greatest feeling in the world.”

It was after their successful The (Arena) Tour when things started to get challenging for Dan + Shay, which led to their four-month separation.

“We just got to this place where Dan and I had no plan on making an album,” Smyers tells Apple Music Country‘s Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen. “We both got off the road and were just really crispy. We were just burnt. Just like, ‘Man, that wasn’t as fun as it should have been.’

“We were just so tired going on and on and on and on doing all these incredible things and reach all these goals, but it was just so much had built up over time and little things over time and you just resent what you have to do,” he continues. “You’re around the same people all the time, so you’re all just like, ‘I’ve been with these people forever.'”

Fortunately, they had a “come-to-Jesus moment” which resulted in Bigger Houses, and a stronger friendship as well.

“Now when we get together, it’s like we’ve rekindled that friendship that we had early on,” Smyers tells People.  “What are the odds when we were both struggling so much that we found each other, that our pace and styles and talents and abilities complement each other so well and that we’ve built something so real?”
