Dolly Parton Drops 2 New Tracks From ‘Rockstar’ Album

Dolly Parton‘ is giving fans another glimpse of her Rockstar album. The 77-year-old just dropped an original song, “Bygones,” featuring. Rob Halford, with special guests Nikki Sixx and John 5 and a cover of “Magic Man (Carl Version), featuring Heart’s Ann Wilson.

“Bygones” is one of nine original songs on Rockstar‘s 30-song track list.

“Bygones’ is an original song of mine featuring Rob Halford from Judas Priest with Nikki Sixx and John 5,” Parton says. “It is one of my very favorites on the whole album. The song fits with so many couples and coupling my voice with Rob, one of my all-time favorites, made it even more special.”

Parton admits she has been fan of “Magic Man” for a long, long time. The song was first released by Heart in 1976.

“I’ve always wanted a reason to sing ‘Magic Man’ by Heart and it was one of my first choices for the album,” Parton shares. “I was so happy that Ann Wilson agreed to sing it with me. Nobody can out sing Ann, but I gave it my darndest, and we added a few lines that were not in the original. We wanted to have a few things that made it seem like ours. Hope I’ve made you proud. I think it’s magic!”

Parton revealed last year that she was working on a rock album, when she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

“I thought, ‘Well, if I’m gonna be in (it), I’m gonna have to do a rock album,’ because my husband of 56 years is a huge rock fan,” Parton told Pollstar. “And all through the house, he has music louder than this going on at all times. He’s always said, ‘You should do a rock album.’ And I thought about it a few times, but timing is everything. And then when this all came up… I thought, well, since I am gonna be in the [Hall], I’m gonna write a song.”

The Tennessee native debutedWorld on Fire” from Rockstar at the end of the 2023 ACM Awards, which she hosted alongside Garth Brooks.

“This is a song I felt very inspired to write,” Parton said. “I think it speaks about everything and to everyone this day and time. I hope it is something that will touch you and maybe touch enough people to want to make a change for the better.”

Parton is joined on Rockstar by numerous other artists, including Elton John, Paul McCartney, Steven Tyler, Stevie Nicks, John Fogerty, Chris Stapleton, Michael McDonald, Peter Frampton and more. The record will be released on November 17. Pre-order is available here.
