Dolly Parton To Receive Star-Studded Birthday Tribute At the Grand Ole Opry

Dolly Parton will turn 77 on January 19, a birthday that will be honored with a star-studded celebration at the Grand Ole Opry. The Country Music Hall of Fame member, who was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 1969, will be honored with performances at two back-to-back shows full of Parton tributes, taking place on Saturday, January 21.

Since 77 is Parton’s favorite number, guests including Chapel Hart, The Fairfield Four, Caitlyn Smith, Marty Stuart, and Chris Young will help highlight hits from Parton’s Here You Come Again album, appropriately released in 1977. The record became Parton’s first platinum-selling album, and had two No. 1 singles with both the title track and “It’s All Wrong, But It’s All Right.” “Here You Come Again” also became a massive crossover hit for Parton as well.

Unfortunately, Parton won’t be in attendance at her own birthday party, due to a scheduling conflict, but the party will still be a celebration of Parton, and her vast musical influence.

“We love an Opry party and everyone around the world loves Dolly!” Opry Executive Producer Dan Rogers says. “Though Dolly herself can’t be with us this year due to her feature film schedule, I think we can all agree Dolly deserves to be celebrated this year and every year. We’re going to have some fun Dolly additions to the great schedule of shows lined up for our January run downtown at the Ryman.”

Parton’s birthday celebration will take place at the Ryman Auditorium, as all of the Opry shows will be held in the downtown venue for the next several weeks. Other plans to celebrate Parton include 77 Hours of Parton giveaways on all of the Opry’s social media channels, birthday cupcakes baked using Duncan HInes’ Dolly Parton’s cake mixes given to all Opry House and Ryman Tour guests on her birthday on January 19 (while supplies last), a larger-than-life 77th birthday card for fans to sign from January 19 to January 21, and a Parton impersonator at the Ryman Plaza for photos on January 21.

Beginning on January 12, $5 from every ticket sold to either of the Parton birthday shows will be donated to the Opry Trust Fund in her honor. Tickets for either show are available here.
