John Prine, Patsy Cline Among Music City Walk of Fame Inductees

John Prine and Patsy Cline are among the upcoming inductees into the Music City Walk of Fame. The two singers will join Dr. Paul T. Kwami, musical director of the Fisk Jubilee Singers for 28 years, and industry executive Ed Hardy in being inducted into the Music City Walk of Fame, in a special ceremony on October 10.

“Each of these four inductees left an enduring mark on Music City, and their influence continues today,”  Kevin Lavender, Executive Vice President at 5/3 Bank and chairman of the Board of Directors of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp, says. “The Music City Walk of Fame is proud to pay tribute to these legends with their induction, and we are especially honored to have their family members attend to accept on their behalf.”

Country Music Hall of Fame member Brenda Lee will present for Prine. Prine’s widow, Fiona Prine, will accept the honor on his behalf. Trisha Yearwood will present for Cline, whose daughter, Julie Fudge will accept the honor. CeCe Winans will present for Kwami, with Kwami’s son, Delali Kwami accepting on his behalf. Garth Brooks will present for Hardy, whose daughter, Kim Hardy, will accept on his behalf.

Prine passed away on April 7, 2020, after contracting COVID-19. Both Prine and Fiona contracted the illness while he was on a European tour.

“The day, in fact, I came out of quarantine, John started displaying serious symptoms,” Fiona recalled to CBS. “I took him to the ER — I had to leave him at the door. That was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I have never not been with him through an illness.”

Cline was killed in a plane crash in 1963. She was only 30 years old, and the mother of two small children when she passed away.
